Job summary

Service Express is seeking a Sr. Manager, Data Engineering to lead strategy and execution of our enterprise data engineering function.

You will build and scale a high-performing team, drive data architecture, and partner with IT, Analytics, and business leaders to ensure reliable, governed data at scale. This role requires a technically grounded, people-first leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and co-leads cloud transformation across Azure, AWS, or GCP.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive experience in data engineering or data architecture.
• 5+ years of people leadership experience, including managing senior engineers/managers.
• Proven track record of enterprise-scale data platforms in production.
• Strong cloud data platform experience on Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Experience with data governance programs and data quality frameworks.
• Ability to translate complex business requirements into pragmatic technical roadmaps.
• Strong executive communication skills for C-suite and board-level audiences.
• Experience in growth-stage environments, including M&A integration.
• Bachelor's degree; Master's preferred in related fields.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the enterprise data engineering roadmap aligned to business goals.
• Build, lead, and mentor a data engineering team (10–15 engineers) and product owners (1–2).
• Partner with CIO, Analytics, AI, and business leaders to prioritize data capabilities.
• Establish engineering standards and an operational excellence framework.
• Champion data quality, engineering rigor, and continuous improvement.
• Architect and oversee data pipelines, lakes, warehouses, and real-time streaming.
