Job summary

The Cigna Group’s Cyber-Security Summer Internship offers a 12‑week program combining hands-on security work with training and mentorship. You will contribute to threat detection, incident response, vulnerability management, and risk mitigation across SOC and security teams in a healthcare context.

You will learn through core and track curricula, engage with peers and mentors, and build practical skills in security tooling, programming, and secure system design.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in cybersecurity, computer science, information technology, or a related discipline with a security focus.
• Basic understanding of cybersecurity concepts, threat analysis and risk management.
• Familiarity with security tools such as firewalls, IDS, and endpoint protection.
• Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language (Python/Java/JavaScript) for security.
• Experience with security software like Wireshark, Nmap, Metasploit, Splunk/ELK; familiarity with Windows and Linux OS.

Responsibilities

• Work within Cyber Security across technical and investigative teams to support threat detection and incident response.
• Participate in vulnerability management and risk mitigation efforts to protect health data and infrastructure.
• Engage with mentors and cross-functional partners; contribute to onboarding and knowledge sharing.
• Take part in structured curriculum and practical projects to grow as a technologist.
