Job summary

Fortress Information Security is seeking a Configuration and Cybersecurity Specialist to support DoD-aligned security baselines, STIG implementation, and ATO compliance. You will work hands-on in Linux and cloud environments (AWS/Azure), perform remediation, patching, and deployments of Fortress SaaS solutions within regulated government settings.

The role requires independent execution, strong troubleshooting, and the ability to operate in secure government environments; local DMV-area

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required in information technology, computer science, cybersecurity, or related discipline.
Active Secret clearance required at time of hire.
Minimum 3 years of general experience, with at least 1 year in configuration management or cybersecurity in a regulated environment.
Experience implementing/remediating STIGs and supporting vulnerability management.
Experience applying patches and configuration changes in controlled environments.
Working knowledge of AWS and/or Azure cloud environments.
Experience with Linux and command-line interfaces.
Ability to use scripting tools (PowerShell or equivalent) for system administration.
Experience operating under an Authority to Operate (ATO) framework.

Responsibilities

Execute and maintain secure configuration baselines per DoD/government standards.
Implement, validate, and remediate STIG findings to meet compliance thresholds.
Hardening of Linux-based systems and cloud environments.
Monitor systems for security posture, availability, and compliance.
Apply patches and software updates to keep configurations secure.
Support vulnerability remediation and track resolutions to closure.
Deploy Fortress SaaS solutions and support controlled production releases.
Maintain ATO posture with documentation and control validation.
Submit change documentation and DADMs requests for software/config changes.
Support audits with artifacts, remediation evidence, and status reporting.
Collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, and government stakeholders.
Maintain accurate configuration records and ensure traceability of changes.
