Job summary

Pacific Staffing is seeking an experienced Controller for a Sacramento-based professional services organization. The role oversees multi-entity accounting, staff leadership, month-end and year-end closes, and financial reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance.

The ideal candidate has CPA, 5+ years of accounting progression, 4+ years of supervisory experience, and strong GAAP knowledge. Hybrid work in Sacramento with opportunity for process improvement and cross‑functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• 5+ years progressive accounting experience, including payroll.
• 4+ years supervisory or management experience.
• Active CPA required.
• CMA or MBA preferred.
• Public accounting experience preferred.
• Strong GAAP, budgeting, forecasting, payroll, and financial reporting knowledge.
• Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems and advanced Excel.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily accounting operations and direct the accounting team.
• Oversee general ledger integrity, reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Manage month-end and year-end close across all departments.
• Direct AP, AR, payroll, fixed assets, and cash management.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and ad hoc reports.
• Lead budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Coordinate annual audits and prepare workpapers.
• Identify opportunities to improve procedures, workflows, and systems.
• Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and accounting standards.
• Provide guidance to internal departments on accounting matters.
• Manage and develop staff, including performance management and training.
