The Strategic Communications and Marketing department at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Content Creator.

About the Opportunity

The Content Creator at West Virginia University is a member of the Strategic Communications & Marketing team. This position develops photography and videography to support central marketing efforts for key audiences across the University's primary marketing channels, including email, print, social media, and web. The Content Creator should be an experienced expert capable of producing creative and strategic visual elements to achieve marketing goals, with a clear understanding of how visual media can help materials reach high-level objectives.

What You'll Do:
  • Develop high-quality video projects, including interviews, shooting B-roll, and utilizing various visual techniques.
  • Edit audio and video projects at an expert level, aligning with project goals.
  • Take high-level photography.
  • Operate visual equipment (cameras, audio gear, lighting, studio setups, green screens, drones, gimbals).
  • Identify ways to enhance WVU's visibility through innovative use of photography, videography, and other visual mediums.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and creative executions, integrating them into projects.
  • Create visual content that aligns with WVU brand guidelines and style.
  • Utilize programs like CatDV and SmugMug for file storage and sharing.
  • Maintain a steady flow of campus photography and videography for diverse uses.
  • Collaborate with Marketing & Brand Strategy teams to develop audience-focused visual content.
  • Work with Storytelling and Social Media teams as needed.
  • Understand and embody the University's mission, vision, values, and brand.
  • Attend various assignments and events, including evenings and weekends.
  • Build strong relationships with visual experts on campus and within the unit.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of five (5) years of related professional experience
  • Equivalent education and experience considered
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of employment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellence in photography, videography, photo editing, and video editing
  • Experience in rapid content delivery, sound editing, lighting, animation, and multimedia trends
  • Proficiency with Adobe software (Illustrator, InDesign, Lightroom, Photoshop, Premiere Pro)
  • Ability to establish cooperative relationships
  • Organizational skills for managing tasks and materials
  • Ability to handle multiple projects with competing priorities
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and independent
  • Adherence to WVU brand guidelines
  • Awareness of technological trends impacting creative marketing
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field
  • Part 107C drone pilot certification
