Job summary

The State of Connecticut, Department of Consumer Protection (DCP), Investigations Division, seeks an experienced Special Investigator (General) to conduct timely and impartial investigations into consumer fraud and related areas, including Home Improvement and Homemaker/Companion agencies. The role involves interviews, evidence collection, and comprehensive reporting.

Located in Hartford, this hybrid position offers telework eligibility under the Telework Policy, with a typical 40-hour week,

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of investigatory experience in health care, insurance claims, law enforcement or a regulatory field.
• College training in consumer protection, health care, law enforcement or a related field may substitute for the General Experience on a 15 semester hours per half-year basis.
• Master's degree may substitute for one additional year of General Experience.
• Successful completion of a Connecticut Careers Trainee program may substitute for General Experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct investigations related to assigned complaints and suspected violations.
• Interview witnesses, complainants, and personnel to obtain information.
• Secure evidence in statements, documents, records and exhibits for hearings or court proceedings.
• Research, collect and evaluate data; compile information and write reports.
• May testify at hearings and courts and may prepare warrants or search/seizure documents.
