Job summary

Merchants Insurance Group in Melville, NY is seeking a Commercial Lines Underwriting Assistant to join our Commercial Lines Underwriting team. This role focuses on setting up new business, quotes, renewals, and endorsements in our policy writing system.

Two days in the office per week with flexible work options outside those days supports collaboration and work-life balance. Candidates should have a high school diploma and at least 1 year in an insurance environment, with strong communication

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1+ years' work experience in an Insurance Company or Agency preferred.
• Prior experience in insurance rating or knowledge of insurance terms is a plus.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word; ImageRight knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Respond to inquiries from agents regarding policy ratings and billing status.
• Update rating information and verify policy details with the underwriting team.
• Review loss control surveys to verify policy exposures for proper rating.
• Assist in achieving commercial lines loss ratio objectives for the assigned territory.
• Assist in achieving commercial lines production goals for the assigned territory.
