Job summary

Oriental Bank in Puerto Rico is seeking an Advisor, Commercial Credit to join our Credit Risk team. You will evaluate and underwrite commercial loan requests and prepare credit memorandums informed by solid financial analysis.

This role requires a Bachelor's in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field and at least three years of commercial credit experience. Strong analytical, communication, and Microsoft Excel skills are essential, with advanced Spanish and English

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial credit, credit analysis, lending, or related banking function.
• Experience supporting commercial, corporate, or institutional banking relationships is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and underwrite commercial credit requests for new and existing clients.
• Prepare comprehensive credit memorandums and recommendations supported by sound financial analysis.
• Conduct annual credit reviews and ongoing assessments of borrower performance and risk ratings.
• Review financial statements, spread financial information, and assess repayment capacity.
• Monitor loan covenant compliance and identify emerging credit risks.
• Participate in Credit Committee meetings and present recommendations on credit facilities.
• Partner with Commercial Banking teams to maintain a high-quality loan portfolio.
• Proactively identify trends, concerns, and opportunities to mitigate portfolio risk.
• Monitor loan maturities and support timely renewals and portfolio maintenance.
• Perform customer visits and site inspections as part of the credit evaluation process.
