Job summary

Oriental is seeking an Advisor, Commercial Credit to join our Credit Risk team in Puerto Rico. This role focuses on evaluating, underwriting, and monitoring commercial loan relationships to support prudent lending decisions and regulatory compliance.

You will prepare credit memorandums, conduct annual borrower reviews, and collaborate with Commercial Banking teams to maintain a high-quality loan portfolio. Strong financial analysis and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years in commercial credit, credit analysis, lending, or related banking function.
• Strong understanding of commercial banking products and financial statement analysis.
• Ability to assess credit risk and provide sound underwriting recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and underwrite commercial credit requests for new and existing clients.
• Prepare credit memorandums and recommendations with financial analysis.
• Conduct annual credit reviews and monitor borrower performance and risk ratings.
• Review financial statements, spread financial information, and assess repayment capacity.
• Monitor loan covenant compliance and identify emerging credit risks.
• Participate in Credit Committee meetings and present recommendations on credit facilities.
• Partner with Commercial Banking teams to maintain a high-quality loan portfolio.
• Identify trends, concerns, and opportunities to mitigate portfolio risk.
• Monitor loan maturities and support timely renewals and portfolio maintenance.
• Perform customer visits and site inspections as part of credit evaluation.

What You'll Do

What We’re Looking For

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience

• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in commercial credit, credit analysis, lending, or a related banking function.
• Experience supporting commercial, corporate, or institutional banking relationships is preferred.
• Strong understanding of commercial banking products and financial statement analysis.
• Demonstrated ability to assess credit risk and make sound underwriting recommendations.
