Job summary

Vertex is offering a 6-month Process Engineering Data Analytics Co-op for students pursuing advanced degrees in Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields. You will gain hands-on experience in Technical Operations - Drug Product and contribute to data-driven process improvements.

The program emphasizes collaboration with multiple departments, development of dashboards, and presentation of insights to stakeholders. Application deadline: November 15, 2026.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a College/University and have finished at least one year of a Master’s or PhD in Chemical or Biomedical Engineering with a strong background in statistics and data analytics.
• Strong self-initiative, communication, and interpersonal and relationship skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an interest in manufacturing process data.
• Proficiency in statistical analysis and data visualization.
• Proficiency in Excel; experience with JMP /Minitab is preferred.
• Minimum 3.5 GPA
• Legal authorization to work in the United States; Vertex does not sponsor internships/co-ops.
• You must be enrolled in an advanced degree program if graduating before May 2027
• You must be available to work full-time, 40 hours per week from January - July 2027

Responsibilities

• Analyze historical manufacturing/process data to identify trends, patterns, variability and potential process drivers.
• Perform data cleaning, visualization and statistical analysis using JMP, Excel or Power BI.
• Develop meaningful visualizations and dashboards to communicate process performance and emerging trends.
• Partner with Manufacturing Science & Technology and Quality teams to translate data into actionable process insights.
• Collaborate in a cross-functional team to develop solutions.
• Identify opportunities to improve process monitoring, data utilization and manufacturing performance.
• Present findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
