Job summary

Vertex Pharmaceuticals LLC is offering a 6‑month co‑op program for advanced degree candidates focused on combination device analytical development. You will gain hands‑on experience in Raman, UV‑Vis, FTIR spectroscopy and non‑destructive testing, while contributing to AI‑assisted workflows and GMP‑aligned processes.

The program runs January–July 2027 in a full‑time capacity with a competitive hourly pay and extensive benefits, including gym access, commuter subsidies, and meals.

Qualifications

• Legal authorization to work in the United States for the duration of the program.
• Must be enrolled in an MS or PhD program in Chemical Engineering, Physical Chemistry, Applied Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong theoretical and practical understanding of analytical chemistry, materials science, or spectroscopy principles.
• Experience with laboratory techniques and instrumentation including FTIR, Raman, UV-Vis and non-destructive testing.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented research environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for presenting findings and contributing to documentation.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to development of analytical capabilities for the CGT devices group.
• Assist in AI-assisted analytical workflows and data automation.
• Perform non-destructive spectroscopy and leak-detection related tests.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and document findings.
