Job summary

NexGen Data Systems seeks a Systems Engineer to provision, configure, operate, and maintain enterprise systems with a focus on cloud technologies and hybrid environments. You will deliver hands-on technical work, guide projects, and support enterprise operations across on‑prem and cloud platforms.

The role requires strong experience in storage, DR, and SAN management, plus security clearances and DoD-aligned processes. On‑site work at designated facilities or Tracy, CA is expected.

Qualifications

• DoD clearance required (IT-I / Critical-Sensitive / Tier 5 SSBI investigation).
• DoD 8570/8140 baseline certification required: IAT Level II (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP).
• At least one CE certification: AWS/ Azure / NetApp / Cohesity.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT/Engineering or equivalent; relevant experience may substitute.
• Minimum 5 years in systems engineering with storage/backup platforms.
• Minimum 3 years managing hybrid storage across AWS or Azure.
• Minimum 2 years with SAN management (Fibre Channel, iSCSI, LUNs).
• Minimum 2 years supporting DoD/military IT security environments.

Responsibilities

• Monitor data restore and disaster recovery (DR) capabilities across on‑prem and cloud.
• Coordinate DR failover operations in enterprise cloud environments.
• Ensure high availability, resiliency, and performance for critical workloads in cloud/on‑prem.
• Manage storage arrays, Fibre Channel switches, and storage fabric components.
• Administer backup/recovery solutions across hybrid infrastructures.
• Architect scalable NAS and file‑sharing solutions.
• Troubleshoot storage degradations and hybrid connectivity issues.
• Perform health checks, capacity forecasting, and maintenance.
• Conduct storage analysis, capacity modeling, and performance tuning.
• Maintain SOPs and architecture docs for storage and cloud environments.
• Prepare technical reports on storage and cloud modernization.
