Job summary

American Family Insurance seeks a technology solutions designer to plan, design and implement cloud-based solutions. You will work with staff to govern architecture standards and patterns, reporting to a senior engineering manager in a hybrid role based in Madison, WI.

Relocation support is offered; candidates should be prepared to work from the office at least 10 days per month. The role emphasizes collaboration, testing, and continuous improvement across IT disciplines.

Qualifications

• Customer-driven solutions experience.
• Knowledge of software designs and deployments.
• Understanding of software engineering concepts.
• Awareness of multiple IT domains (dev, test, config, deploy, monitor).
• Knowledge of infrastructure tech and app development methods.
• Basic system administration and network management.
• Experience with integration between apps, databases and platforms.
• Familiar with scripting languages like PowerShell, Shell, Perl or Java/Python.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development, enhancement and maintenance of tools and systems.
• Participate in integration and testing of solutions.
• Assist in troubleshooting tools, processes, apps or infra.
• Support evaluations and re-engineering to enable strategy.
• Build relationships across functions and implement automated solutions.
