Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance is seeking a Claims Specialist in the Plano area. The hybrid role involves managing a caseload of routine to moderately complex claims from investigation through settlement, including liability assessment, reserve setting, and negotiations with claimants and other parties.

Qualified candidates have at least 2 years in claims adjustment, with knowledge of bodily injury and commercial claims, and must obtain and maintain applicable licenses.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years experience in claims adjustment, general insurance or formal claims training.
• Knowledge of claims investigation techniques, medical terminology and legal aspects of claims.
• Licensure to operate as a claims adjuster as required by state regulations.
• Continuing education toward industry certifications preferred (e.g., AEI, IIA, CPCU).

Responsibilities

• Manages an inventory of claims to evaluate compensability/liability.
• Establishes action plan based on case facts, best practices, protocols, regulatory issues and available resources.
• Plans and conducts investigations of claims to confirm coverage and to determine liability, compensability and damages.
• Assesses policy coverage for submitted claims and notifies the insured of any issues; determines and establishes reserve requirements, adjusting reserves as necessary.
• Assesses actual damages and conducts negotiations within authority limits to settle claims.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Experience with bodily injury and commercial claims required.
