Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with materials specialization.
• 4+ years of civil materials engineering and quality control experience.
• Experience with testing and specification of road construction materials (asphalt, base layers).
• Strong knowledge of concrete technology and testing procedures.
• Familiarity with soil mechanics and geotechnical principles related to construction materials.
• Proficiency with material testing equipment and laboratory procedures.
• Good understanding of SANS specifications for construction materials.
• Excellent analytical, reporting, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement material testing programs for civil engineering projects.
• Specify construction materials, including aggregates, asphalt, concrete, and soil, based on project requirements.
• Oversee and interpret results from laboratory testing of construction materials.
• Conduct site sampling and quality control checks on materials used in construction.
• Analyze material test data and provide recommendations for material selection and use.
