Placements24 is seeking a Materials Engineer for our client, a leading construction materials testing and consulting firm, to join its laboratory and field services team in Upington, Northern Cape. The role focuses on planning and overseeing materials testing, interpreting results, and recommending material suitability for projects.

The ideal candidate holds a Civil or Materials Engineering degree, with 5+ years of experience, familiar with SANS standards and testing protocols, and strong

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Materials Engineering.
• 5+ years in construction materials engineering and testing.
• Experience with soils, concrete, and asphalt testing.
• Familiarity with SANS standards.
• Strong report writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise lab and field testing of construction materials.
• Interpret results and prepare materials reports.
• Ensure testing follows SANS standards and project specs.
• Conduct site investigations to assess material suitability.
• Provide technical guidance on material selection and quality control.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and calibration procedures.
• Liaise with clients, contractors and project engineers.
• Develop and implement quality assurance plans for construction materials.
• Stay updated on advancements in testing methods.
• Assist in developing new testing services and procedures.
