Job summary

Wood, Smith, Henning & Berman LLP in Phoenix, AZ seeks an experienced legal assistant for civil litigation. Qualified candidates have at least 5 years in legal support within insurance defense; construction defect a plus.

Hybrid role requiring in-office presence three days per week in the greater Phoenix area. You will manage attorney calendars, coordinate depositions and travel, prepare pleadings and discovery, maintain files, and interact with outside firms, clients, and insurance carriers.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience as a legal assistant in insurance defense.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to multi-task and manage deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Maintain attorneys' calendars and coordinate meetings, depositions, mediations, and travel.
• Prepare and file pleadings, discovery, and routine motions with attorney guidance.
• Open/close cases and manage legal files.
• Liaise with outside firms, clients, and insurers.
• Track deadlines using docketing and calendar systems.
• Support multiple attorneys and trial preparation.
