Job summary

State of Washington Dept. of Social and Health Services (DSHS) ESA Support Enforcement Officer 1-2 In-Training in Seattle, WA is seeking a candidate to establish, modify, and enforce financial and medical child support obligations.

You will work with parents, attorneys, and advocates by phone and in writing, and maintain a caseload in the Support Enforcement Management System. During onboarding you will start in-office, moving to a hybrid schedule with two days telework and three in office, with

Qualifications

• Two years of college-level coursework AND two years of experience in child support enforcement and/or debt collection.
• OR two years of experience as a Child Support Enforcement Technician.
• Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute year for year.

Responsibilities

• Establish, modify and enforce financial and medical child support obligations by phone with parents, attorneys and advocates.
• Research income information, calculate complex financial and medical obligations, and prepare legal notices.
• Analyze laws governing paternity, support determinations, and enforcement of orders.
• Negotiate debt repayment terms using income and asset information.
• Review court and admin orders to determine suspension or termination of obligations.
• Initiate and sign legal notices and correspond with clients, courts and agencies.
• Locate individuals and assets using state interfaces and public records.
• Maintain caseloads in the Support Enforcement Management System.
