Job summary

The Long Beach Public Library Foundation (LBPLF) seeks an accomplished Chief Development Officer to lead a transformative philanthropy program in support of the Long Beach Public Library. This senior role focuses on cultivating relationships with high-net-worth donors and families, and aligning donor aspirations with the library’s strategic vision.

Based in Long Beach, the position is hybrid, with occasional evening donor events and regional travel.

Qualifications

• Senior development executive with a proven track record of securing major philanthropic commitments.
• Excellent ability to cultivate authentic, long-term relationships with high-net-worth donors.
• Strong strategic thinker with experience in planning and leading major gift programs.

Responsibilities

• Cultivate a portfolio of high-potential donors and prospects and secure transformational gifts.
• Develop individualized cultivation plans aligned to donors’ interests and capacity.
• Manage relationships with Board members to map networks and identify donors.
• Lead, coach, and evaluate the Annual Giving Manager and other development staff.
• Help shape and implement an integrated, multi-year development plan across giving programs.
