Job summary

Institute on Aging is seeking a CalAIM Billing & AR Specialist to manage Medi-Cal, ECM, and CS billing, ensuring timely claims and effective accounts receivable management in a hybrid role based in California. You will collaborate with Accounting, Program Operations, and MCPs, maintain EMR/EHR data, and stay current on payer requirements while contributing to month-end close and financial reporting.

This position emphasizes accuracy, problem solving, and strong communication to reduce denials

Qualifications

• 3+ years of medical billing or AR follow-up experience in a healthcare setting.
• Experience with Medi-Cal Managed Care, Medicaid, or commercial payer billing.
• Experience submitting healthcare claims and following through to final payment or resolution.
• Proficiency with EMR/EHR, billing software, payer portals, and Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and submit accurate and timely claims to Medi-Cal MCPs, commercial payers, and other funding sources.
• Review billing documentation for completeness and accuracy, including eligibility, authorizations, dates of service, and payer requirements.
• Monitor claim status and follow up on rejected, denied, unpaid, and underpaid claims through final resolution.
• Investigate denials and prepare corrected claims and appeals as needed.
• Perform charge entry, payment posting, AR aging monitoring, and reconciliation of ERAs and EOBs.
• Maintain billing trackers, denial logs, AR reports, and payer issue logs.
