Job summary

Community Health Alliance is seeking an experienced Billing Specialist to manage billing and accounts receivable functions. Your goal is accurate, timely posting of payments and adherence to regulatory standards.

The role requires 3 years in payment posting, familiarity with medical billing, CPT/ICD coding, EMR systems, and strong attention to detail in a fast-paced setting. Hybrid work is available after a 90‑day in-office training period.

Qualifications

• High School graduate; 3 years’ experience in payment posting.
• CPB or CPC certification preferred.
• Experience with medical billing and insurance claim processing.
• Balancing checks, contractual adjustments and sequestration knowledge.
• Familiarity with CPT, ICD and HCPCS coding; healthcare terminology.
• Proficiency with billing software and EMR systems; Medicare/Medicaid billing knowledge.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; attention to detail and organization.

Responsibilities

• Monitor claim status and follow up on unpaid/denied claims; resubmit as needed.
• Reconcile accounts receivable and follow up with clients or insurers on balances.
• Post payments from insurers and clients into the billing system accurately.
• Download insurance payments and post into the EMR.
• Balance checks and ensure proper distribution of funds.
• Make adjustments to align EOB and EMR balances; handle sequestration adjustments.
• Identify discrepancies and escalate where codes or fee schedules changed.
• Maintain Bank Log and ensure insurance deposits are received before posting EOBs.
• Assign unpaid claims to team members and coordinate follow-up.
• Work with payers on missing checks/remits.
• Retrieve 835s and EOBs and file them appropriately.
• Ensure HIPAA privacy rules and billing standards compliance.
• Assist with claim denials.
