Job summary

JMT, a 100% employee-owned firm, is seeking a Design Engineer to design transportation structures in Maryland and across the Nation from Hunt Valley, MD. The role emphasizes structural design with AASHTO LRFD, mentorship, and a collaborative team environment.

You will contribute to bridge projects, perform inspections, draft with MicroStation, and support plan development with senior engineers. The position offers a hybrid work schedule and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a 4-year accredited university.
• 0 to 3 years of bridge structural design and inspection experience.
• Master’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification.
• Experience using structural analysis and design software, MicroStation drafting software, Mathcad, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering tasks in the structural engineering field per AASHTO LRFD specifications and design-oriented programs.
• Assist in the preparation of bridge project documentation including plan sets, specs, and estimates.
• Participate in plan and shop drawing reviews.
• Drafting using MicroStation.
• Assist in field performing bridge and structure inspections.
• Work under supervision of a Project Manager or Senior Level Engineer.
