Job summary

Fishbeck seeks a Brownfield Program Specialist to help advance redevelopment across Michigan. You will evaluate incentives, meet with municipal partners, and pursue funding opportunities for brownfield projects.

The role includes preparing plans, grants, and ensuring compliance, with travel to project sites as needed. Hybrid and flexible schedules are available; the ideal candidate has a background in community development or environmental sciences and strong written and verbal communication

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent in related field.
• 1+ year of brownfield redevelopment or related experience.
• Knowledge of property taxation processes, finance and site development.
• Strong verbal and written communication, including technical writing.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Experience with grant proposals and program funding is a plus.
• Introductory knowledge of brownfield plans and redevelopment topics.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and implement economic development tools for brownfield projects.
• Meet with developers and governments to assess financial incentives.
• Research funding opportunities: tax abatements, TIF, grants, resources.
• Prepare Brownfield Plans, work plans, proposals and grants; track progress.
• Assist with grant compliance and reporting for projects.
• Support environmental project efforts and program strategies.
• Present information in public settings as needed.
