Job summary

Ramboll in Syracuse, NY seeks a hands-on Business Intelligence & Analytics Specialist to turn performance data into actionable reporting. You will work hybrid from our Syracuse office, with a focus on SQL data sourcing, BI dashboard design, and migrating legacy VBA tools to modern BI solutions.

The role requires 5 years of relevant experience and strong SQL/SSMS skills. You will collaborate across Client, Sales, and Operations teams, build KPIs, and enable leadership with data-driven decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field and 5 years of relevant experience.
• Intermediate SQL Server skills (temporary tables, indexes, joins, expressions).
• Proficiency with SSMS and familiarity with Stored Procedures and Table‑Valued Functions.
• Intermediate experience with Visual Studio 2022 or newer. Working knowledge of VB.Net and ability to edit, compile and distribute existing .NET applications
• Experience with VBA (Excel and MS Access) for reporting/automation
• Understanding of business practices for project costs and revenue, plus basic knowledge of financial and project management systems
• Demonstrated experience or eagerness to become fluent in BI reporting
• Understanding of AI prompt engineering and development of AI‑enabled applications
• Familiarity with Remote Desktop and basic server app management
• Comfort navigating large networks and related infrastructure constraints

Responsibilities

• SQL Data Sourcing: Extract data from corporate databases.
• Analytics & BI: Translate requirements into KPIs and metrics; design, build, and deploy dashboards for leaders.
• Optimize and support Legacy Applications: Maintain and enhance Excel-based tools with VBA; migrate to centralized BI solutions; document architecture for continuity.
• AI‑Driven Process Improvement: Collaborate cross‑functionally to identify bottlenecks; research and implement AI tools to streamline operations.
