Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Manager, Systems Engineering for the AV Platform Software to lead a team defining requirements, interfaces and traceability for autonomous vehicle software across platforms and programs. You will translate product intent into testable software system requirements and ensure alignment with safety, cybersecurity and manufacturing needs.

The role emphasizes technical leadership, people management and delivering rigor in safety-critical, production-oriented software.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, software engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or computer science.
10+ years of experience in systems engineering or software engineering in safety-critical or automotive contexts.
Experience translating system-level objectives into subsystem requirements and verification criteria.
Strong cross-functional collaboration across software, safety, cybersecurity, validation, manufacturing and service.

Responsibilities

Define clear, traceable requirements for AV Platform Software and manage decomposition and interfaces.
Partner with software architecture, development, safety, cybersecurity and vehicle teams to resolve issues.
Set team roadmap and drive milestone readiness while communicating risks and decisions.
Improve systems engineering methods, metrics and automation; mentor and grow the team.
