Job summary

Meals on Wheels America is seeking an Associate General Counsel to provide broad legal services to the CEO, executive team, and staff. The role covers corporate, governance, labor, IP, healthcare, regulatory, fundraising and compliance matters in a flexible hybrid Arlington, VA setting.

The counsel will supervise outside counsel, manage budgets, and support the Board’s governance initiatives while helping to advance the Association’s mission and compliance programs.

Qualifications

• JD from ABA-accredited law school.
• Bar admission in DC/VA or ability to waive.
• 8+ years of broad-based legal experience in multiple practice areas.
• Ability to serve as a generalist and learn quickly across areas.
• Experience with nonprofit, governance and privacy/cybersecurity.
• Strong written and verbal communication; professional maturity.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel to the CEO, executive team, and Board as needed.
• Draft, analyze, and edit contracts across corporate, employment, fundraising, and health care areas.
• Advise HR on labor and employment matters and employee discipline.
• Represent the Association in legal matters and oversee outside counsel.
• Oversee information security, privacy, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
• Lead contract lifecycle management and maintain legal records and board materials.
