Job summary

SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking an Associate Project Archaeologist to support our Midwest operations in Chicago, IL. This role manages small cultural resources projects, including proposals, fieldwork, research, and report writing, while maintaining client and agency relationships.

This hybrid position offers 75% office work with up to 25% field work, with potential remote distribution in the Midwest. Office-based or hybrid options near Chicago are available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Architectural History, Anthropology, or a closely related field.
• Three (3) years of CRM experience across various project types, sizes, regions, and agencies.
• Familiarity with Section 106 and Historic Preservation regulatory requirements in Illinois or nearby Midwest states.
• Demonstrated experience as a primary CRM report author.

Responsibilities

• Lead or assist projects with technical approach, project management, and QA/QC.
• Develop deliverables for complex projects and manage tasks under supervision.
• Coordinate client, agency, and tribal relationships and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Oversee fieldwork and report writing with attention to quality standards.
• Communicate effectively with clients and agencies and build professional relationships.
• Ensure timely project tasks and contribute to team collaboration.
