Job summary

SWCA Environmental Consultants in Chicago, IL seeks an Associate Project Archaeologist to support Midwest operations. The role manages small cultural resources projects, including fieldwork, reporting, QA/QC, and client/agency relationships.

The position is full-time, hourly, with a hybrid work arrangement near Chicago or Cincinnati or distributed in the Midwest, with up to 25% fieldwork and 75% office work, depending on project needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Architectural History, Anthropology, or a closely related field.
• Three (3) years of experience in cultural resource management (CRM) with increasing responsibilities.
• Familiarity with Section 106 and Historic Preservation regulatory requirements in Illinois or nearby Midwest states.
• Familiarity with other cultural resource regulations in Illinois/Midwest states.
• Experience as a primary report author in CRM contexts.

• Lead or assist projects, manage technical approach, deliverables, QA/QC.
• Develop and adapt methods to meet client needs.
• Foster team collaboration and knowledge sharing.
• Make project decisions with sound judgment within parameters.
• Oversee QA/QC and ensure deliverables meet standards.
• Communicate with clients and agencies to build relationships.
• Ensure timely completion and client satisfaction.
• Follow all regulations and company standards.
