Job summary

Cook County Government is seeking an Accountant to perform a variety of basic accounting functions for the Department/Bureau, prepare routine financial reports, and assist staff with fiscal matters while maintaining ledgers and applying software-based systems.

Under supervision, you will support budgeting, revenue and cost projections, and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulations, emphasizing accuracy and timely reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or GED with four years accounting/finance experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.
• Ability to prepare financial and accounting records.

Responsibilities

• Prepare routine financial reports, spreadsheets, and projections.
• Assist staff on fiscal matters affecting the department.
• Maintain accounting systems, books, records, and ledgers.
• Work under direct supervision to support accounting functions.
