Job summary

The Accountant I will manage the County budget and financial data, performing monthly and year-end processes, and oversee cash resources to meet payroll and obligations. This role collaborates with departments to prepare and publish the budget document.

Bachelor’s in accounting required with 2+ years government experience preferred; starting salary aligns with County pay scale. This is a full-time exempt position in the Finance Department with a 75-hour biweekly pay period.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with at least 15 credits in accounting.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in budget and accounting (government preferred).
• Exempt status and full-time eligibility as per county policy.

Responsibilities

• Manage and analyze the County budget, including monthly and year-end processes.
• Prepare financial data in compliance with reporting requirements and forecasts.
• Oversee cash resources to maximize interest revenue and ensure payroll and payables.
• Integrate data from systems and write reports for budget submissions.
• Coordinate with departments to develop and publish the budget document.
• Train users and manage security for budget software.
