Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive Assistant Management Accountant to join its finance team in Welkom. The role focuses on monthly management accounts, variance analysis, budgeting, and forecasting, with exposure to costing and inventory accounting in a hybrid work setup.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance, 2–4 years of experience, strong Excel skills, and familiarity with Pastel or SAP Business One. Located in/near Welkom, Free State, SA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; or studying towards professional qualification (CIMA/ACCA).
• 2–4 years of experience in accounting or management accounting roles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced skills).
• Experience with accounting software (Pastel, SAP Business One).
• Understanding of management accounting principles and techniques.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, including variance analysis.
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Perform reconciliations of key accounts and resolve discrepancies.
• Assist with the analysis of financial data to identify trends and provide insights.
• Help maintain the fixed asset register.
• Support the costing and inventory accounting functions.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the finance department.
• Prepare various financial reports as required by management.
• Assist with internal and external audits.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
