Job summary

Placements24 is partnering with a manufacturing client in East London, Eastern Cape, to recruit an Assistant Management Accountant. You will support the Management Accounting team with accurate financial data and modeling to inform strategic decisions and budgeting processes.

The role involves variance analysis, forecasting, preparing monthly management accounts and reports, and collaborating with senior finance professionals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Management Accounting, or related financial discipline.
• Part qualification in CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent preferred.
• 2–4 years of relevant accounting experience in management accounting or financial analysis.
• Strong Excel skills with advanced functions (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, macros).
• Familiarity with Pastel or SAP Business One is an advantage.
• Excellent analytical and quantitative skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary.
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Develop and maintain financial models to analyze business performance and support decision-making.
• Prepare financial reports for stakeholders with accuracy and timeliness.
• Assist in preparation of cost accounting data and analysis.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and ensure general ledger accuracy.
• Contribute to improvement of accounting processes and systems.
• Support audits by providing documentation and explanations.
• Ad-hoc financial analysis and project work as required.
