Job summary

Marsh Corporate in Boston seeks an Assistant General Counsel, Alternative Investments, to provide strategic legal guidance on private funds, SMAs and related investments. This is a hybrid role requiring three days in the office.

The candidate will oversee external counsel, negotiate complex fund documents, advise on regulatory and tax issues, and manage a small team supporting transactions, with a US JD and 7+ years of private funds experience.

Qualifications

• 7+ years advising on private funds or investment funds.
• US JD and active bar admission in at least one state.
• Strong knowledge of Investment Advisers Act and private fund structures.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and tactical legal advice on private funds and SMAs.
• Oversee external counsel during due diligence and negotiations of fund documents.
• Lead negotiations on complex private markets deals.
• Ensure timely delivery of legal advice within budget and scope.
• Support regulatory, structuring, and tax considerations for fund launches and ongoing operations.
