Job summary

The University of Massachusetts Amherst's College of Information and Computer Sciences seeks an Assistant Director of Undergraduate Student Careers to help undergraduates explore internships and careers, partnering with faculty, alumni, employers, and campus career centers.

You will coach students, develop scalable resources, mentor staff, and advance inclusive participation in CS careers through events and data-driven initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and two years of related professional experience or a Master's degree in a related field.
• Ability to think through problems, organize and seek data, identify key factors and solutions.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to deadlines and ability to balance multiple projects.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to learn and use technology such as LinkedIn, Google Drive, Slack, Qualtrics, and Trello.
• Willingness to travel within the U.S. for conferences and events.
• Understanding of Title IX, Clery and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develops scalable resources to prepare undergraduates for internships and careers, collaborating with advising offices and other centers.
• Provides personalized career coaching and discusses internship strategies based on industry trends.
• Mentors and co-manages career developer student staff, recruiting and onboarding.
• Advises faculty on computer science, AI, and data science employment trends and implications.
• Contributes to career data collection, analysis, and reporting with others on the team.
• Co-manages career development software and recommends updates.
• Supports participation of students from underrepresented backgrounds and designs steps to advance inclusion.
• Creates marketing content for resources and programs to boost engagement and outcomes.
