Job summary

SummitIG, a fast-growing dark fiber infrastructure provider, seeks an Assistant Controller for a hybrid role in Sterling, VA. You’ll oversee accounting operations, tax compliance, budgeting, and internal controls for a REIT-structured business with remote and onsite team members.

You will lead month-end close, supervise staff, and coordinate audits, while supporting debt reporting and multi-state tax compliance. A CPA is preferred; base salary aligns with market and includes an annual bonus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA strongly preferred.
• 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience.
• REIT, real estate or capital-intensive infra experience preferred.
• Direct ASC 842 lessor accounting experience preferred.
• Multi-state tax compliance experience preferred.
• Prior supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls.
• Review financial statements and schedules.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff.
• Coordinate annual financial statement audit and documentation.
• Prepare lender reporting packages and debt covenant certificates.
• Manage cash flow forecast and CAPEX planning.
• Own fixed asset accounting and depreciation policy.
• Oversee revenue recognition for long-dated IRU/lease contracts.
