Job summary

SMMA, a renowned design firm based in Cambridge, MA, seeks a skilled Construction Specifications Writer. You will report to the Architecture Department Manager and collaborate with the Senior Construction Specifications Writer to craft precise project manuals and specifications.

Responsibilities include coordinating with internal teams, MasterFormat/Uniformat work, and coordination of front-end documents for client reviews; research and addenda preparation; and educating staff on specification

Qualifications

• Architectural, construction, or engineering education required.
• 5+ years of experience in architectural, contracting, product representative, or engineering roles.
• Strong written, graphic, and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of MasterFormat and MasterSpec systems.

Responsibilities

• Write architectural technical specifications for each project phase.
• Coordinate specifications among internal disciplines and consultants.
• Coordinate and write Uniformat specifications for schematic design.
• Coordinate Project Manual from Master specifications and templates.
• Coordinate contracting, bidding, and front-end documents for clients.
• Review drawings for coordination with specifications and Project Manual.
• Prepare and coordinate addenda; respond to RFIs.
• Assist in evaluating submittals and substitutions; interpret specifications.
• Educate staff in coordination and use of specifications.
• Maintain Master Specifications and educate staff.
