Job summary

Cushing Terrell is seeking a Specifications Writer to lead the development, coordination, and quality of technical specifications across a wide range of project types within a hybrid work model.

Ideal candidates will support retail criteria projects and contribute to firm-wide master specification templates, collaborating with architects, engineers, and consultants to ensure accurate, constructible documents.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
• 5+ years as architect/engineer with a specifications focus, or 3+ years as architectural specifier; CDT certification.
• Strong knowledge of construction specifications, building systems, materials, construction methods.
• Proficiency in specification software tools and Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Lead preparation of project manuals and technical specifications across projects with various formats.
• Discipline lead on specs, resolving conflicts between drawings and specifications.
• Support retail criteria projects and maintain master specification templates.
• Review submittals, substitutions, RFIs, and change proposals for spec compliance.
• Participate in QA/QC to verify technical accuracy and completeness of documents.
• Conduct product and systems research to support spec development.
