Job summary

Gulf Coast Protection District (GCPD) is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join the Budget, Accounting, and Reporting team. You will process vendor invoices, contractor pay applications, and ensure proper vendor records while adhering to governmental AP practices and internal controls.

The role supports multiple invoices with deadlines in a small finance team, including compliance with grant expenditures and travel reimbursements.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of accounts payable or general accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of accounts payable best practices, including invoice matching and coding.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ERP/GL systems.

Responsibilities

• Process vendor invoices and contractor pay applications accurately and timely.
• Match invoices to POs and contracts, resolve discrepancies before payment.
• Code invoices to fund, department, project, and grant lines per chart of accounts.
• Prepare and process payment runs (checks, ACH, wire).
• Maintain audit-ready accounts payable files.
