Job summary

ACLU - National Office seeks an Analytics Engineer within the Analytics division of the Technology Department in New York, NY, Washington, DC, or San Francisco, CA. This hybrid role requires in-office presence two days per week to support data-driven fundraising, advocacy, and program work.

You will transform data into analysis-ready forms, build Python ETL pipelines in Dagster, scrape public data, and collaborate across teams to improve the CRM data model during the migration.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in an analytical field (e.g., Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Business) or equivalent experience.
• Extensive experience with data warehouses and database query languages (e.g., Redshift, SQL).
• Skilled in using a modern scripting language (e.g. Python).
• Proficiency in translating business metrics into well-scoped tasks and requirements.
• Working knowledge of BI tools such as Hex, Tableau, or Looker.
• Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) systems, such as Salesforce, Blackbaud, or VAN.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data models to support reporting using dbt.
• Collaborate with vendors and Analytics Engagement team to migrate CRMs and rebuild dbt models for reporting.
• Build and orchestrate Python ETL pipelines in Dagster for data flow into warehouses or data lakes.
• Scrape data from public websites to support legal, organizing, and advocacy projects.
• Ensure high-quality, timely data is available for stakeholders across departments.
• Apply data warehousing and SQL best practices to enable fast, reliable analytics.
• Collaborate with internal departments to document consistent business data practices.
• Support data needs for fast-developing legal crises and issue-based campaigns.
