Job summary

Medical Mutual is offering a hybrid summer Actuarial Internship in Brooklyn, OH. You will work onsite three days per week, collaborate with experienced actuaries, and gain hands-on experience in analytics, data extraction, and BI reporting.

You'll use Excel, SQL, and Power BI on real projects, learn healthcare concepts, and build professional credentials for actuarial careers within a health insurance company.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university as a junior, senior, or graduate student.
• Minimum GPA of 2.8 (3.0 GPA preferred).
• Demonstrated leadership through academic, extracurricular, volunteer, or work experiences.
• Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 12 consecutive weeks. Three (3) days onsite in the Brooklyn, OH headquarters.

Responsibilities

• As an Actuarial Intern, you will work on projects that provide real business value while building your analytical and technical capabilities.
• Conduct deep-dive analyses to identify and explain healthcare cost and utilization trends.
• Research and evaluate factors contributing to trend variability and emerging patterns.
• Analyze medical and membership data to identify drivers of financial performance.
• Present findings and recommendations to actuarial and business leaders.
• Update recurring monthly reports and dashboards.
• Participate in team meetings and collaborative projects.
• Learn healthcare terminology, actuarial concepts, and industry practices.
