Job summary

American Family Insurance offers a summer actuarial internship that spans 10–14 weeks from mid to late May through August. Interns work on projects similar to full-time staff, gain mentorship, and attend trainings across the business.

A one-time housing cost bonus may be offered, with roles in Auto Pricing, Loss Reserving & Forecasting (P&C), and Life & Health Actuarial. Interns will analyze actuarial data for pricing and reserving, develop models, study industry trends, and prepare reports

Qualifications

Must be in student status at an accredited 4-year college or university during the internship.
Must be pursuing a Bachelor's, Masters, or PhD.
Major/program must align with internship role.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools.

Responsibilities

Assist in the preparation and analysis of actuarial data for pricing, reserving, and financial reporting.
Help develop and maintain actuarial models and tools.
Conduct analysis on industry trends and regulatory changes.
Develop an understanding of our business, corporate culture and structure to support your work.
Contribute creative ideas and strategic approaches in response to changing situations.
Collaborate with team members to gather and interpret data for multiple projects.
Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on actuarial methodologies and best practices.
