American Family Insurance invites you to a Summer 2027 Actuarial Science Internship. This 10–14 week program runs mid to late May through August, with a hybrid schedule in Madison, WI or Boston, MA.

Interns will work on pricing, reserving and modeling tasks, and will receive mentorship across actuarial teams to broaden experience. Qualifications include active student status at an accredited four-year college, pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD, and proficiency in Excel and data analysis

Our summer student internship is a 10 - 14 week program that starts in mid to late May and ends in August. During your internship, you’ll work on similar projects to our full-time employees that make a difference at our company, with our customers, and in our communities. Interns may be eligible for a one-time hiring bonus to assist with housing costs depending upon proximity to an American Family office. Compensation Minimum: $25.00 Compensation Maximum: $39.00Our actuarial interns also gain exposure to different areas of our business. Our interns will be placed with a particular team, but will also be assigned a mentorfrom another team and will have the opportunity to attend trainings from all areas of the business.We have internship roles available in the following areas:• Auto Pricing• Actuarial Tools & Data• Rate Indications• Property Ratemaking• Specialty Lines Ratemaking• Predictive Modeling & Research• Commercial Lines Ratemaking (P&C)• Loss Reserving & Forecasting (P&C)• Life & Health Actuarial (Modeling, Pricing, Reserving)**Responsibilities**• Assist in the preparation and analysis of actuarial data for pricing, reserving, and financial reporting.• Help develop and maintain actuarial models and tools.• Conduct analysis on industry trends and regulatory changes.• Develop an understanding of our business, corporate culture and structure to support your work.• Contribute creative ideas and strategic approaches in response to changing situations.• Collaborate with team members to gather and interpret data for multiple projects.• Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings.• Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on actuarial methodologies and best practices.**Requirements**• Must be in student status at an accredited 4-year college or university during the internship.• Must be pursuing a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD.• Major/program must align with internship role.• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools.Due to the nature of this role, we are unable to consider candidates who require visa sponsorship.This role will work a Hybrid schedule based in either Madison, WI or Boston, MA.### Additional Information* To ensure a strong start, all employees participate in our New Employee Orientation during their first week.
