Job summary

Redwood Logistics in Chicago, IL is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead a team of accounting professionals and ensure GAAP-compliant reporting. You will manage month-end close, assist audits, payroll, and intercompany reconciliations, while driving process improvements and ensuring data confidentiality.

You will collaborate with leadership, support budgeting/forecasting, and oversee ERP systems to maintain accurate financial records across North America and Mexico.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Accounting.
• High level Excel comfort required.
• CPA preferred.
• 5-7 years of experience.
• Experience with large public company, including being involved in implementing and maintaining accounting controls preferred.
• Experience within public accounting sector preferred.
• Knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting controls and process improvement.
• Experience using ERP systems (NetSuite, Great Plains, Microsoft Dynamics).

Responsibilities

• Assist month-end close journal entries and reconciliations for designated balance sheet accounts.
• Participate in annual audits and tax reporting with documentation and reconciliation.
• Assist FP&A with budgets and forecasts.
• Maintain accounting records for Redwoods Mexico Logistics team.
• Oversee payroll processing and 401k audit support.
• Apply advanced Excel to organize large data sets for reconciliations and brokerage analysis.
• Analyze reporting discrepancies and drive corrective actions.
• Interpret client contracts and apply ASC 606, ASC 842 and ASC 360 accordingly.
• Gain expertise in internal subsystems and the full accounting cycle.
• Drive process improvements and automation to increase efficiency.
• Communicate with business unit leaders and presidents for operational objectives.
