The Newcastle Search Group, LLC is seeking an Accounting Manager for our established client in Chicago. This hybrid role requires on-site presence several days per week and local residency or willingness to commute.

You will lead accounting operations, mentor staff, and ensure GAAP-compliant financial reporting. Strong Excel and ERP experience are essential in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• Minimum of 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Supervisory experience strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and month-end close.
• Experience with ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent communication across all levels of the organization.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to analyze complex financial data and provide actionable insights.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Review and approve account reconciliations and journal entries to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Manage and mentor accounting staff; supervisory experience is a plus, as this role may include direct reports.
• Establish, document, and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Partner cross-functionally with finance, operations, and leadership to support business initiatives.
• Assist with external audits, including preparation of supporting schedules and audit documentation.
• Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company policies.
• Support budgeting and forecasting activities as needed.
