Job summary

The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign's School of Information Sciences is seeking an Accounting Assistant to support purchasing, payments, reimbursements, and financial recordkeeping for faculty, staff, students, vendors, and campus partners.

Reporting to the Director of Budget and Resource Planning, the role requires a solid understanding of university policies, strong communication, and careful documentation; hybrid work is available after training, with occasional on-site work as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Accounting coursework or related knowledge welcomed.
• Experience with university financial policies and records is a plus.
• Experience with campus-funded purchasing, reimbursements, and reporting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process purchasing, payment, and reimbursement activity using relevant University systems (iBuy, Banner, Emburse, PCard, TCard).
• Prepare or review requisitions, invoices, travel and reimbursement requests, and related documents.
• Verify or assign appropriate accounting codes and track obligations.
• Coordinate with faculty, staff, vendors, and campus offices to resolve issues.
• Maintain organized financial records per University retention rules.
