Job summary

SmartStop Self Storage is seeking an Accountant for a HYBRID role. You will manage the monthly property close, maintain internal controls, and support treasury and reporting for ~20 properties from the LA area office in Ladera Ranch, CA.

Hybrid schedule with in-office Tue-Thu, home Mon & Fri. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance, GAAP experience, advanced Excel, and strong communication skills in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent work experience.
• Experience with GAAP financial statements.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and oral & written communication skills.
• Be detail oriented while multi-tasking in a fast-paced company.
• Ability to adapt quickly to change, working effectively in a demanding environment.
• Must love diversity and work well with all personality types.
• Takes initiative, looking for areas of improvement and follow-through on changes.
• Works well independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Produce journal entries, banking and account reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly balance sheets and income statements.
• Analyze budget and actual results to report variances.
• Support integration of new acquisitions as needed.
• Compile a monthly reporting package for each property.
• Other accounting responsibilities and ad hoc projects as assigned.
