Job summary

SmartStop Self Storage is seeking an Accountant to manage monthly closes, reconciliations, and reporting for approximately 20 properties. This hybrid role involves Tues–Thu in the office in California and Mon & Fri remote work after full training.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance, with GAAP experience and strong Excel, communication, and analytical skills. Flexible, detail-oriented, and capable of independent work, you will support growth and acquisitions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or comparable work experience.
• Experience with GAAP financial statements.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and oral & written communication skills.
• Detail oriented with multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to adapt quickly to change, working effectively in a demanding environment.
• Takes initiative, looking for areas of improvement and follow-through on changes.
• Works well independently with minimal supervision.
• Health insurance including medical, dental and vision.

Responsibilities

• Produce journal entries, banking and account reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly balance sheets and income statements.
• Analyze budget and actual results to report variances.
• Support integration of new acquisitions as needed.
• Compile a monthly reporting package for each property.
• Other accounting responsibilities and ad hoc projects as assigned.
