Job summary

SmartStop Self Storage in California is seeking an Accountant to join our Hybrid team. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you will manage the monthly close for about 20 properties, maintain internal controls, treasury and internal reporting.

This is a hybrid role: Tue–Thu in the office in Ladera Ranch, CA, and Mon & Fri work from home once fully trained. Key functions include journal entries, reconciliations, monthly balance sheets and income statements, variance analysis, acquisition support,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent.
• Experience with GAAP financial statements.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to adapt to change.
• Team player with diverse personalities.
• Shows initiative and follows through on improvements.

Responsibilities

• Produce journal entries, banking and account reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly balance sheets and income statements.
• Analyze budget vs actual results and report variances.
• Support integration of new acquisitions as needed.
• Compile monthly reporting package for each property.
• Other accounting responsibilities and ad hoc projects as assigned.
