Job summary

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is hiring an Accountant at Headquarters in Los Angeles. The role performs professional accounting work supporting financial operations, including journal entries, reconciliations, reporting, and audit support.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in accounting and two years of relevant experience (or six years combined education/experience). Hybrid work schedule with in-person and remote days is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration with an emphasis on accounting from an accredited college or university.
• Two years of relevant accounting experience, or a combination of education and experience totaling six years.

Responsibilities

• Perform core accounting transactions by preparing cost transfers, journal entries, and various payment requests.
• Reconcile and analyze accounts, researching discrepancies and validating data.
• Prepare, review, and maintain financial documentation and reports, including invoices and drawdown requests.
• Monitor and manage accounts receivable by generating invoices and tracking collections.
• Support audits and respond to stakeholder inquiries with documentation.
• Contribute to cross departmental projects with accurate financial analysis.
