Job summary

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is seeking an Audit Manager to lead a team of audit professionals in planning, executing, and reporting audits and advisory engagements. You will shape internal audit strategy through risk assessments and ensure work meets professional standards and district requirements.

You will oversee objectives, resources, budgets, and timelines while maintaining strong client relationships and providing actionable insights to management and the Board.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in accounting/related field with 8/6 years' experience, incl. 4 years in a lead role.
• Progressive experience including audits, internal controls, and executive communications.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and develop staff; coach, mentor, and evaluate performance.
• Manage and perform operational, financial, IT, performance, and compliance audits and advisory engagements.
• Develop engagement objectives, scope, risk and fraud assessments; confer with management on findings.
• Oversee engagement resources, timelines, and budgets while maintaining client relationships.
• Assess organizational risks by evaluating governance practices and control effectiveness.
• Verify workpapers, data analytics, and evidence meet internal auditing standards.
• Review interim/final reports and board presentations; communicate findings and recommendations.
• Assist with developing annual audit plans and Board presentations.
